- This is the first among three ArtSpace rehab
projects designed by the firm. This adaptive reuse project
created 46 apartment-loft units for artists to live and
work. Located in downtown Hartford near the historic Union
Station Transportation Center, the existing four story
building was gutted and completely renovated. All new
systems and windows were installed. The building now provides
affordable and suitable living/working studio space on
four above-ground floors. A common exhibit and cafe space
incorporated into the ground floor provides a sense of
community for the residents and view of the gallery within
from the City sidewalk. Storage and workshop spaces are
provided on one level below ground. |
