Due to the very low headroom
and moisture problems in the existing basement, the
existing structure was raised on temporary supports
while the basement was entirely removed. A new basement
level was constructed at a lower elevation, to provide
fully functional space.
The new structure
will house undergraduate teaching spaces for the Anthropology
and Archeology departments, dissection labs as well
as five dry labs and support space. The main level contains
the administrative offices, a large conference room,
seminar space, and a number of faculty offices and workrooms.
The spaces are fully interchan-geable to allow for the
maximum amount of flexibility for the future needs of
the department.
