DESIGN
- The new building is sensitively linked to the house
by a glass passageway that continues through the school
as a main corridor. The steel-framed glass connector
provides access from the old structure to the new structure
at all levels. Walking from one to the other offers
views of both old and new as well as the historic neighborhood.
Auditoriums
and gymnasiums are typically without natural light.
In this school, they both have window walls, facing
the east. The gymnasium window wall allows the natural
environment to become part of the physical education
experience. Both auditorium and gymnasium require little
to no artificial lighting on most days.
