DESIGN CONCEPT - Our design created a quadrangle on the campus with Ross Commons and LaForce Hall defining two sides of the quad. To avoid obstructing views of the surrounding mountains from adjacent campus buildings, we placed the low two-story dining and gathering spaces along the campus ridge and designed it to be nearly translucent. By day one can look across the dining room out to either the quadrangle or the Adirondacks in the distance, and at night, the building is a beacon of the activities taking place within. Further defining the residential quadrangle is the five-story LaForce Hall, which complements the other traditional, barn-like stone structures of the campus.
