CONCEPT - The existing lobby was a low-ceilinged narrow corridor. The adjoining library, museum shop and galleries were hidden from view by inserted floors and storage areas. One key element of our design was the removal of an inserted floor restoring the lobby to the full 50 foot height of the original 1842 Wadsworth building. This allowed us to expose the existing reinforced concrete roof structure and to create the two large walls which became canvases for world renown muralist, Sol LeWitt.
