CHALLENGES & OPPORTUNITIES - The removal of the inserted floor also inspired the steel framed glass bridges at both ends of the lobby as the new means of circulation and access to the second and third floor galleries surrounding the lobby. The architect advised the steel supplier to think of the steel bridges as 'a work of art in the Wadsworth collection'. One and one-quarter inch thick sand blasted-glass panels were set into the sanded and painted steel frames of the bridges for semi-opaque flooring. Brushed stainless steel hardware and railings complete the detailing of the bridges.
