The design concept for this 3,000 square foot house was derived to make optimum use of the sloping site. The concept consists of two boxes sited on different levels of the site with a central space between the boxes. The central space provides the primary entry and living areas (living room w/ fireplace, kitchen and dining room). One-half level up is the master bedroom and den, and one-half level down are two additional bedrooms, as well as access to a two-car garage. Abundant natural light through the central skylights animates and emphasizes the contract between the open living area and the more enclosed private spaces below and above.
