Willard & DiLoreto Halls
Client: Central Connecticut State University
Completion Date: 2018
This major renovation and expansion of Willard and DiLoreto Halls creates a new commons filled with natural light that provides the CCSU campus with a One-Stop Student Services center. The design adds 35,000 sq. ft. between two existing buildings totaling 105,000 sq. ft. Extensive space programming was required to plan the renovations and reallocation of the existing space for academic departments and instructional space. TSKP STUDIO Architects is the lead design firm with Tecton Architects serving as Associate Architect.

TSKP STUDIO’s design transforms both the aesthetics and the energy efficiency of the two 60’s era buildings. Replacing the bands of windows, adding a new sloped metal roof and a glass wall into a large-scale portico complements the scale and architectural vocabulary of the adjacent Davidson Hall. A strategy for adding insulation throughout the building envelope along with energy efficient windows and doors and the prevalence of natural light provides a dramatic improvement to energy conservation and building performance.
